Increasing awareness and facilitating the conversation around the inequality, socio-economic disparity and lack of support for Indigenous communities worldwide. On this day, it is important to listen to the voices of those communities and amplify them!

Jewish: Tish'a B’Av

Tish'a B'av is an annual fast day in Judaism. Named for the ninth day (Tisha) of the month of Av in the Hebrew calendar. The fast commemorates the destruction of both the First and Second Temple in Jerusalem.

Roman Catholic: Feast of The Assumption

The Feast of the Assumption of Mary commemorates the spiritual and physical return of Mary (mother of Jesus Christ) to the presence of God. This day is celebrated with a mass and a large feast with loved ones.

Hindu: Raksha Bandhan

Raksha Bandhan, also known as Rakhi, is the Hindu festival that celebrates siblings, and the love they share for each other. The festival takes place on the full moon of Sravana in the Hindu lunar calendar.

Islamic: Arbaeen

The largest annual pilgrimage in the world, where millions go to Karbala in Iraq. It’s a Shia religious observance that occurs forty days after the Day of Ashura. The pilgrimage commemorates the martyrdom of Al-Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Muhammad.

Hindu: Krishna Janmashtami

A day to celebrate the birth of Hindu God, Krishna. It occurs on the 8th day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadrapada. The day before, a vigil and fasting occurs. Then the image of Krishna is bathed, dressed in new clothes and worshipped.

National Dog Day

International Dog Day is a fave for us here! It's for spoiling our four-legged and wet-nosed companions with love and affection. This celebration also brings awareness to the issues surrounding breeding and to encourage the #AdoptDontShop hashtag.

Jain: Paryushana

The most important annual holy event for Jains. Paryushana means “abiding” or “coming together.” It's a time of intensive study, reflection and purification - culminating in a day of confession and asking for forgiveness.
