People often mistakenly think purpose belongs to the happiness side of our neuroscience model. It’s actually associated with the direction system of our brain and we need it to perform.
Meaning is associated with personal value and importance. It offers information or an experience which is relevant to making sense of our life journey. Meaning is more of an internal motivator, whilst purpose is something we can take into the world.
AREA 1:INSPIRATION
Inspiration is the inner sensation which motivates us to do something important, a state where we are prepared to engage with a significant challenge regardless of the difficulties it may present.
When we are inspired, we have the potential to be our best and to summon all of our personal talent. Inspiration can be triggered by our external experience or by our own internal thoughts.
AREA 2:COMMITMENT
Commitment is a state of emotional attachment to a cause. It’s something we feel as a sense of belonging and purpose which is personally meaningful to our own life journey.
It’s a state of emotional engagement where we identify with a wider human group or purpose. At its higher energetic level, it can be described as passion!
AREA 3:VALUES
We develop our personal values through life, especially in our younger years. Our values act as emotional guides that indicate what we want to experience in terms of human connection and concepts, e.g. fairness, justice...
Sharing our sense of values is critical to sustaining team journeys where we engage with others who want to share the same emotional experiences.
