FREEDOM NEUROSCIENCE THEME
WHAT THIS MEANSIN THE WORKPLACE
Freedom is the ability, as far as possible, to choose our own path without constraint.
Giving employees freedom at work is likely to make them happier and more productive. There are many ways to create freedom of choice in the workplace - from flexible working to the ability to adapt their own role.
AREA 1:ACCEPTANCE
This is about being accepted for who we are. It means not being judged or experiencing prejudice because we are different from the perceived norm.
Acceptance is a state where diversity is embraced and openness is the encouraged state of mind.
AREA 2:AUTHENTICITY
This runs hand-in-hand with acceptance. Authenticity in this context is a state of human expression, whilst acceptance is the response we get.
Being allowed to be authentic allows people to access their deepest talents and passions, enabling them to offer their whole selves, rather than a diminished shadow shaped by judgement and prejudice.
AREA 3:AUTONOMY
The opportunity to operate with some autonomy strikes at the heart of the human experience.
It gives us space to explore and grow, and to take ownership of our responsibilities, actions, and their consequences. It offers us the opportunity for deep personal meaning and learning.
