COP26 has reminded us all of the fragility of our planet and the urgency of radical change. The largest scientific study of its kind recently found that climate anxiety affects nearly half of respondents surveyed globally. Like all forms of anxiety, eco-anxiety impacts not only our personal but our work lives meaning employees are worried and distracted, leading to a loss of engagement and productivity. How can employers acknowledge and deal with eco-anxiety?

Matt Phelan is joined by:

  • Jo Musker-Sherwood, Eco-Wellbeing Consultant

  • Sara Essa, Founder, Rise

  • Veronika Hoffman, Happiness Adviser, The Happiness Index

To discuss:

  • What is eco-anxiety?

  • What is the neuroscientific basis for eco-anxiety and how does it impact on our health and wellbeing?

  • Should employers acknowledge eco-anxiety and try to facilitate a space to help employees talk about their concerns? How can they best achieve this?

  • How can employers engage their people in their ESG plan to help them tackle their own organisation’s environmental impact?

  • What support mechanisms can employers put in place to help employees deal with eco-anxiety?
