The Happiness Index is delighted to announce their sponsorship of Lewes Football Club women’s captain, Rhian Cleverly for the 2022/23 season.
Lewes FC are globally renowned for their drive to change football for good. In 2017, they became the first (and currently only) professional or semi-professional club in the world to start treating its women footballers the same as its men – the same playing budgets, same pitch, same training facilities. As well as baking equality into everything they do, Lewes FC want to use the power of football to create social change via a 100% fan-owned and not-for-profit business model.

Rhian joined Lewes FC in July 2019 following a successful season in France at Le Havre (HAC). The centre-back, hails from Pontypool and made her international debut for Wales in July 2014. She took on the captaincy in the 2020/21 season winning awards for Coaches’ Player of the Season, Supporters’ Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season.
Rhian says: “Having taken a Masters degree in Sports Psychology, I’m a firm believer in the link between a player’s happiness off the pitch and their performance on it. I’m honoured to be sponsored by The Happiness Index and to represent Lewes FC in the Women’s Championship for the 2022/23 season”.
