Clive Hyland
NeuroScience & Board Advisor

For the past twelve years, Clive has been using neuroscientific insights as the central core of his coaching practice. During this time he has worked primarily coaching business leaders and their top teams, supporting them to lead strategic business and cultural change. He focuses on neuroscience to bring a fresh and powerful understanding of what it really takes to get the best out of people and organisations. Clive also runs coaching masterclass programmes for coaches, HR and L&D professionals who wish to integrate neuroscience into their knowledge and practice.

Martin Colenutt
Non-Executive Chairman

Martin is a seasoned business leader with wide-ranging experience from corporate banks to SMEs. He spends most of his time as the Managing Director of Colebrook Bosson Saunders- from humble beginnings, CBS has grown into a $100 million+ dollar global business and are now part of the Herman Miller group. Martin plays a key role at The Happiness Index as the Non-Exec Chair, where he works closely with the board and the founders on the ever-evolving strategic growth plans. With a strong financial and operational background, Martin is the reference point for sound and well-planned growth in the business.

Jim Brigden
Board Advisor and Investor Representative

Jim is a globally-renowned internet entrepreneur, with vast experience in people-heavy businesses such as media agencies all the way to high growth technology scale-ups. During the past 20 years, Jim has successfully built and exited a number of high profile companies. He loves working closely with highly ambitious people who want to make a dent on the universe. Jim spends most of his time as the Executive Chair to one of the fastest growing digital marketing agencies on the planet, Brainlabs. He plays a key role at The Happiness Index in an advisory capacity and as the lead investor representing all 18 private owners.

Tony Latter
Head of Happiness Innovation

As head of happiness innovation, his role is to invent new ways for companies to listen to their people and visualise the insight they receive. His insights on “happiness at work driving engagement in today’s workplaces” recently featured in The Sunday Times. He’s a regular speaker at the CIPD’s annual conference and other HR events and panel sessions.

Matt Phelan
Head of Global Happiness

Matt is the self-appointed Head of Global Happiness. This means he’s responsible for global expansion. Alongside Chris Hyland, he founded a global data and digital marketing agency before leaving the business after a trade sale and focussing entirely on The Happiness Index. His passion is to understand how people experience happiness and his vision is to use data to visualise culture in a similar way to how Google Maps visualises the world.

Gemma Shambler
Head of People

Gemma is responsible for making sure THI looks after it’s most valuable assets – it’s people! Her career started in facilities management but her passion for developing and growing people led her into the weird & wonderful world of HR. She hasn’t looked back since. Gemma is a huge advocate for flexible working and being a working Mum herself, she has first-hand experience of the benefits flexible working arrangements can offer.

Matt Stannard
Head of Robots

Matt is responsible for product development and innovation. He’s always worked in Data and Analytics space and been a student of AI and Machine Learning. He’s spoken at several conferences in the Data and Analytics space and is featured in “Google Analytics Breakthrough” as an expert in innovative use of Analytics to integrate off and online data.

Pardis Samiee
Head of Marketing

Pardis is an experienced marketer with an MSc in Marketing and Business psychology. She has worked in different industries and countries, from mobile marketing in Greece to the education sector in Australia. In her previous job at the University of East London, her diverse background and passion for improving employee and client experience helped her faculty rank first for student satisfaction in London.

Tim Stoller
Strategy Director

Tim works with clients of all shapes, sizes, sectors and locations to help them understand the impact their people have on their business performance. His belief is that if you look after your people, they will look after your customers and in turn, they will look after your business objectives. “The Holy Grail of HR analytics is to link the three together, build and implement strategies that improve outcomes and I’ve created an approach for that.” He has 20 years of work in Research, Insight, Marketing and Commercial in companies including the BBC, innocent drinks, Lindt, and The Happiness Index to get there.

Mark Thompson
Head of UK Commercial

Mark heads growth in the UK. He’s responsible for finding new partners that share our goal of making the world of work a better place to be. Part of the early stage team at Econsultancy, – Mark launched their bespoke research division into North America. He was in the latter stages of becoming the 90s TV Milky bar Kid… alas some other blonde whipper-snapper got the gig!

Pat Phelan
Head of Customers

Pat is responsible for happiness across our customer community and works hard with the team to ensure that they receive the best experience possible. He has worked in account management for over 10 years and was one of the founding employees at The Happiness Index. He strongly believes that your people define your personality, your personality defines your culture, your culture defines your work and your work defines your success.

Chris Hyland
Head of Humans

Chris is our Head of Humans. What does that mean? It means he’s the guardian of our brand, which includes our people, customers and or marketers. At the age of 26, Chris co-founded a digital marketing agency 4Ps Marketing with his (still) friend and (still) business partner Matthew Phelan. On the 10th anniversary of the business, Chris & Matt decided it was time for a change and left the business with 160 people in the UK & 1,000 globally to focus on The Happiness Index.
